Because it's the Tradition, that's Why!

Sure, it rained all weekend. And it felt, at times, more like March than the end of May. But Memorial Day stuck its head out with a little touch of sun and a gentle feel of summer after all, And in spite of the wind, in spite of the rain, in spite of the whole lousy Saturday and Sunday preceding it, Monday turned out just fine!

So we crashed Bill and Stephanie's neighborhood party and invited Tonya and Brian (Heather, too, but she had to work) to join us. They popped in just long enough for me to take one decent picture and two very blurry ones and then they were gone again. But several neighbors showed up and it was time for a barbecue party and a celebration. After all, that is the tradition, right?!!! Even if Bill was on duty and had to get right back to work as soon as his stomach was happy.

Prisoner on the balcony - poor child. (Actually, she's playing with a bubble machine, but I would have the long lens on and couldn't get far enough away to show it all.)

And here's Bill's expression about barbecuing.(Actually, I was trying to catch his smile, but he looked away just as I clicked the shutter.)

Watch out - it may be in the water! Both Stephanie and her next door neighbor (uh, I keep forgetting her name - Iliana, Alanna, Ahnna - I'm sorry) are expecting babies this summer. Aren't they gorgeous? Stephanie's doing a shower for her (Iliana...) next week. She's from Romania. And Romanian is a dialect from Italian, I found out from them. Because Romania was conquered by the Romans and they taught everyone their language. I didn't know that before.

Tonya and Brian had a fun day. Tonya slept in and Brian went fly fishing. They had dinner earlier with his family and stopped long enough for me to get their picture.

And here's Kamryn with her neighbor Henry. They play together. A lot. When they aren't fighting. They had another neighbor friend there, too, but apparently three is a crowd and the only pictures I have of the three of them have their backs to the camera and they are fighting over some toy. Pretty typical for their age. And I didn't take pictures of their parents. Guess the kids get the spotlight. It was a fun gathering though. Thanks Bill and Steph for letting us come and crash it!

Oh dear! Remind me not to drink your Lehi water next time I'm there! Well, at least not for another 5 months or so! I need to get this flab in shape so I can run some 5Ks first!!! What a fun Memorial Day you had!

Kamryn is so cute!

Also, I love your scrapbook pages. I tried to be a scrapbooker for a year but I have too many pictures and I got overwhelemed. Maybe someday I will try again.
