1. Friday, October 30, I got a phone call from Heather. "Mom! I've been in an accident. What do I do? And IT WASN'T MY FAULT!" This is where I found her: State Street and Main Street, Lehi:
We all know what an obnoxious interference accidents are. The paperwork and phone calls and follow-ups don't end. Through it all we're just grateful that injuries appear to have been minor.
But accidents can also mean the demise of old friends. Back in '05 when Bill and Stephanie got married, her parents were wondering if we could use an extra car. With Heather in High School it was an answer to a prayer, and Heather loved having the old '94 Sentra to tootle around in. Since the accident, she's been in mourning. It's going to be hard to replace such a dependable vehicle. We knew its history. We knew its quirks and as long as we made sure the oil got changed regularly and the tank was full of gasoline, it just seemed to keep on going.
Goodbye dear friend.
Mike's kids took the cat route. Are they cute or what? These pictures are from Mike and Makinzee:

Mike and Makinzee took a different route - Dolly Parton and John Lennon:
Here's a video of Kamryn's Bear Voice:
3. Wednesday, November 4, Sean made it home from Iraq to Ft. Hood. It was so wonderful to hear his voice and know he was SAFE again on USA soil.

Such false sense of security we all have. When the very next day the news broke with the story about the shootings in Ft. Hood we all immediately panicked about Sean, Linzy, and the kids. It took a while before we heard back from them, and were very relieved to know they were safe. Still.
Through it all, though, my heart breaks for those families who did not receive the same news. We mourn with the nation for the lives lost of those brave people. And our heart goes out to the Ft. Hood community. It is a huge, sprawling base, but there is a tight knit feel to it we have been privileged to share in our visits to Sean and his family. Is there anyone who has not been affected by this incident? We share as a nation in the grief of such pointless loss of life. Those who died are all heroes to me.

Whoa...I didn't know Sean was in Iraq, or at Ft. Hood. My goodness what an emotional week for your family. I will definitely say a big grateful prayer tonight, and of course a prayer for those who suffered such a great loss...and for our poor fractured country and the men and women who are fighting to make us whole again.
I didn't hear about it until hours later. I wondered if Sean was there, but, since bad news travels fast, I figured all was well. We are so grateful that he is home and safe at home. You must be so proud and so grateful!
Does Heather really "tootle"?
Wow, what a busy week!
OK, have I missed what it means to tootle? Like just to run errands and visit friends and go to work, and you know, tootle?
So sad to see the Sentra in that shape! That little car served our two families very well. Loved to hear Kamryn do her bear impression!
