| The cabin we stayed in at Zion Mountain Lodge - the east end of Zion Canyon |
Brent and I slipped a vacation in to southern Utah over an extended weekend. Our vacations this year seem to be in snippets of extended weekends. Those are days when we really should be home finishing the living room project, but we've opted for memories instead. Putting off until tomorrow...
Some of you have seen the photos from the trip already on Facebook. If not, Click Here: Photos from Southern Utah Trip
We returned home to have Dan arrive from Tennessee the next day. And the Loveridge Family Reunion plus a little Sunday gathering at Bill and Stephanie's combined to make another great weekend. He flew home on Monday after spending the day with me and Edna for breakfast after her eye doctor appointment, and then kicking back waiting for Brent to drive him to the airport.
Tuesday was a state holiday for Utah - Pioneer Day. We celebrated alone on that day - a nice quiet evening. We had all the makings for a great barbecue at home but nobody else could come, so we refrigerated the steaks and cobs of corn, bought Kentucky Fried instead, and headed for the Canyon. We passed up several picnic spots in lieu of a better one, which we didn't find and then the empty ones were filled up because I guess it was just a great night for everyone to head for the Canyon. We ended up driving up over the top of the Alpine Loop and halfway down to Provo where we finally gave up looking for a table and started just looking for a quiet place where we could find a log to sit on to eat our chicken.
Bad mistake.
Let's just say I wish people who decide to have secret rendezvous in the outdoors would have the courtesy to not leave the evidence of their tryst lying around in our national forests.
Well, so much for our picnic in the canyon.
Can you believe it's already the end of July???????
