Our first round of "Biggest Loser" at work ended yesterday. In spite of all the pix taken over the holiday, I was, once again, behind the camera and so, sad to say, there is no 'after' picture of me to post. Suffice to say, I did end up with a 17 (+ ounces) lb. loss. Most of it happened during the first couple of months but I was pleased that I could keep it off during the holidays as well.
Bottom line is I ended up as the winner in % weight. Not in % inches. It's like I've got this huge beach ball and taking a fraction of an inch off it takes a whole lot more weight than those with tiny tennis balls. But this I do know - my clothes are fitting me a whole lot looser and that's a great feeling.
Round Two starts where Round One left off yesterday. And I'm in for it! We'll see what happens between now and July. (Maybe then I can find an After picture to post with my before picture of Round One.) My personal goals are to lose at least 20 more pounds, and exercise at least 15 days out of each month.
The really important side effect of losing the weight has been the control on my blood sugar levels. My morning levels (before breakfast) have dropped an average of 50 points, and that means I don't have to go on the really expensive medicine or use insulin shots, which is the best news of all!!!!!!!! And that's just for dropping a few pounds and getting exercise back into my life. Hooray for bodies that are very responsive to doing good things to them. And that is humbly miraculous to me.
Well, I've got to run. There's a gym waiting for me!

Good job mom. I'm proud of you. That takes a lot of dedication.
Hooray! That's really great news--congratulations!
Good job. Dedication it is, I really wanted to hit the snooze button for the 3rd time this morning but got up and did an awesome workout and it has made the day better! Keep it up.
17 pounds! Woo Hoo! Go You!!! Good luck with round two and make someone take a darn picture of you. I require Seth to take the camera from my about twice a year so that I can prove that I was actually here. Can't wait to see the final outcome!
AWESOME!!!! Way to go, Julie!
Wow - thanks for all the support everyone! (Now I feel double bad for not actually making it to the gym yesterday - will have to do double today!)
That is awesome Julie!! I knew you were losing--walking around here in your baggy pants! I am proud of you.
Wow, we won't know you when we return in May! As always, thanks for your Christmas postings.
