Some Progress

Some more not very pretty pictures ...
but Saturday was an important day in our remodel efforts. See, I've considered the fireplace to be part of the kitchen remodel, but Saturday we officially moved into the living room remodel (which really needs to be done along with the kitchen anyway.)
So down came the wallboard on the south wall,
down came the old insulation.

Up went the newer, almost double-the-thickness insulation,
and at the end of the day, there was even a piece of wallboard added back on.

We're going to tear down the wallboard and redo the insulation around the window as well.

The biggest challenge is that we really don't have any place to put the things in the front room - things like chairs and TV's and such. And the piano has become my substitute kitchen cupboard for all the things we don't want to have to run downstairs to retrieve each time we want a snack or a bowl or a spoon or glass of water, so this is really getting to be an ugly picture with us trying to work around everything.  (And the carpet has become absolutely ghastly! what with all the construction stuff and not being able [not wanting] to clean it.)

Enough of the gripes, though.  I've got to concentrate on the successes of Saturday. (Also notice in these pictures that Brent's got the enclosure done for where the TV will be mounted above the fireplace. That took a long time, one little piece a week it seemed, but every little step brings us one step closer...)  Somehow making more than a teeny tiny bit of progress, felt all of a sudden like this really can get done!

you are making progress. My suggestion would be to move it all out, it'll be a lot easier then working around it. Obviously not the piano but are you really going to keep the couches? I hope you'll get new ones, if there is no where to sit maybe more work will get done at the end of the day!! PS Love that tv table!

Makinzee, you are so fun! Great idea. Brent says we can't buy any new ones as long as we have the cat, though. That's probably the first thing that needs to go, but how do you get rid of a pet you've fallen in love with? I mean, after ten years? - Heather?
