A Wiggly Wicked Day!

Most of the time the gardens at Thanksgiving Point are just quiet.  Serene.  A gentle sweet interlude in a busy world.

However, there are days when they open up the gates and invite the locals to come ...

...and do what people in Utah seem to have a penchant for doin'

Whether it be an Easter Egg roll before the tulips bloom,

or a midnight dash through a fairy tale forest,

or a day like
Saturday,
July 19, 2014

when they invited the public to come and play with ....

FOOD!

Like CORNSTARCH
that goes hard when it's compressed
And oozes and dribbles and drips when it isn't.

They had Dixie cups available for those who had a desire to be dainty

But if dainty wasn't that big a deal...

How about a TUB full of it!

Now,
if the cornstarch stuff wasn't enough playing with food to make you happy -
Come WATCH what you can do with a bottle of COKE (yes, they said the C word and Tonya was especially hopeful ...)

and ONE MENTOS mint ...

Yay!  Coke Bombs!

Ok,
well,
yeah.
I admit that wasn't super special.

However, none of that was the real reason why we came.
The real reason why was the good

Old Fashioned

Huh?
Run, Ashlyn.  Run!
 JIGGLE FEST

(translated, because I can use the word even if ThPnt can't:)

JELLO FIGHT!

As in ooey, gooey,

squishy, jiggly
 WIGGLY
FUN!
Right, Bill, you think standing on the sidelines will protect that nice white shirt????

WRONG!!!!
Gotcha! Dad!!!!!

 so SO WRONG!!!
 Run, Lexi, Run!

Uh, oh.  Watch out.  HERE COMES TROUBLE!!!
 It appears nobody is immune!

Why is Bill grinning?   See the two little bums in the tub of Jello?
Yeah, they both just got dumped there by none other than the GRIN!

Even ERIC got into the fray!

Eventually all the tubs full of Jello were empty.

And everyone was standing around.

Waiting.

And photographing.

 And waiting.

And when I wait with a camera in hand, what else can I do but take pictures?

And I wasn't the only one.

And still we waited.....

With JELLO splattered faces

Because the announcer promised us this was coming:

 And come it did:
Yay! for WATER!!!
that wonderful stuff!

 BECAUSE

Jello is sticky

and Jello is not nice in cars
 and it was HOT outside
and running through the sprinklers is COOL!

and it was great to get CLEAN

And WATER is our FAVORITE - EST All-purpose FOOD ever!

So that was how the Wiggly Part of the Day went.
Brent and I had grocery shopping to do, so we bid our little subject farewell and went on our way.

Because later that day we had a truly
WICKED!!!!
date planned.

Mike had been with Jack at Cub Day Camp all morning (which is why you don't see any photos of him above).   But he got back to join us and Makinzee for dinner at
MARKETSTREET GRILL -so fun!   (no Jello here)

and then for WICKED the Musical,
at the CAPITOL THEATER in Salt Lake City:

Don't argue with me, Brent, stand in there with the kids!

Ages ago we got tickets for this show for the local kids.  We even babysat for Bill and Stephanie the night they went.   But Mike and Makinzee were living in Boise at the time and had never even really heard the music.   They were good sports about coming with us to a show they really knew nothing about.   What a surprise they were in for!!!!

We had a great time.
And they were duly impressed.
As we knew they would be.

Turned out to be a super fun day start to finish!

A truly Wiggly, Wickedly Wonderful day!

You adults are all such good sports. I would have stayed way clear of that jello. Looks like you all made the best of it and let yourselves enjoy it. I think I need to go see Wicked again because I think I am the only person who didn't really get it. It was good, but just okay good, so I must have missed something or gone in with expectations that were too high. A night out at the theatre is always a great night though.
