I totally empathize with the little ones who immediately cram the marshmallow in their mouths. That attitude reflects in so many other things in my life. Am I capable, after 58 years of experience, to be patient enough now to wait for the greater reward? Can I be patient enough to leave the wrong foods alone knowing the payoff will be better health? Can I be patient enough to carve out a half hour or so to exercise every day, knowing also the benefits to my body that will build up over time?
Can I be patient enough to put a little into savings every month, and (this is the key) LEAVE it there, knowing the financial rewards that come from having money set aside for an emergency in the future?
Can I be patient enough to know the Lord works on His timetable and He is working already, today, on miracles I will not witness for years?
... And speaking of patience, see my very impatient granddaughters at Edna's birthday party here. Happy 85th Birthday, Grandma!
