Gymnastics at Two

1. Bill's Goal for Putting Kamryn in Gymnastics at Age 2 1/2:
"I'm just hoping she can be less clumsy."
"That, and learn to listen better...."

(Bill, I must get you a child development book! She is, after all, a TWO year old. Two is synonymous with tantrums and not listening and destruction and, yes, clumsiness.)

2. Stephanie's goal for putting her in the "Mom and Tot" gymnastics class?
"Well, one month, we'll try it. But we'll see if I can survive to the end of the month."

Who knew 45 minutes could last SO LONG!
Actually, the first 30 minutes were great. It was that last 15 when Kamryn was simply DONE. Every time she finished one part of one exercise, she bolted for the door, with Stephanie chasing behind. From our vantage point looking down from the second floor, it was really funny! I wonder if they've considered putting her in track. She is one FAST kid!

Kamryn did a fantastic job on the balance beams. And she caught on very quick after she was shown how to do the other activities. By the time the class was over, she was doing them on her own! I think she's really going to enjoy the class.

If Stephanie can survive it.

Oh, I feel for Stephanie. I did mom and tot gymnastics with Alex when he was almost 3. Alyssa had started Kindergarten and I was VERY pregnant with Chloe. He was just so wild, I thought he needed an outlet and a time that was just for me and him. It was insanity! All the other kids participated and he would be running for the rope ladder that fell in to the foam pit. That was all he cared about. Now imagine me all pregnant climbing in to the foam pit and trying to chase him. We only lasted 4 months.

Kamryn sure is cute though, and I am so jealous of that long curly hair. Gorgeous!

What a wonderful Gma you are to capture this! One day, I'm sure Steph will laugh at it maybe even Kamryn too!

Oh how absolutely positively adorable! I agree, two year-olds have a tough time listening. Allison did. Isaac is much better. I have a 3 1/2 year-old nephew I watch every weekday and he is a terrible listener. Drives me crazy. I can't decide if it's because he's 3 1/2 or like his mom or more like his dad (my brother). Ah, kids.

Makinzee - you got back into the world of the Internet! Nice to see.

And Julie, if you ever come back and see this, I love the vision of you all pregnant clibing into the foam pit! That is so funny.

Lisa - thanks for the confirmation on the listening observations. Actually, Kamryn does pretty good. She's just so smart we all expect her to behave like a five year old as well. But sometimes she just acts her age. What else can I say?
