Father's Day

Last Saturday Mike and Makinzee took us to breakfast for Father's Day.  We met them at Village Inn and I did not bring my big camera, but am learning to use the phone to capture more and more of life's events.  It was a great morning.  We were trying to get Lilly to smile for me:

Finally, there's a grin!   Can you tell she was enjoying her breakfast?
The others were a little more cooperative:

Beautiful Maddy

Pixy Cute Lexi
And toothless blurry Jack.  Sorry, Bud, this phone camera idea isn't always so good I guess.

We were grateful to be able to spend some time with them Saturday morning because they spent Father's Day with Makinzee's dad.   However, she let it slip on our way out the door that Mike was speaking on Sunday.  So we got to see them on Sunday morning, too.  His topic was about his relationship with his Father in Heaven, and he did a great job.  We got to watch their kids sing as well, and they all knew the song and sang it really well.  So that was a fun Father's Day morning for Brent.

Saturday afternoon we joined Leo at the Rehab Center for rootbeer floats.  While there we ran into Debbie Dufur - her mother, it turns out, is right across the hall from Leo.  There were several otherss there whom we knew as well.

Then Saturday night Leslie Harms got us tickets to see Ragtime, at Hale Center Theater in Salt Lake City.  She had enough extra that Heather was able to join us with an extra one for Steve, her roommate, and Edna decided she wanted to come, too.  So we all went to dinner at Zupas and then to another little dinner at the reception before the show, and then a backstage tour, and then the show - which I really enjoyed.  In fact, all of us really enjoyed it except Brent, who had never heard the music before.   Don't get me wrong.  He enjoyed it, just not as enthusiastically as the rest of us.  I am a firm believer that you have to know the music and storyline before attending any musical.  It makes all the difference in the world.  That was a late night, but I was so grateful to Leslie for getting us the tickets.  It was really fun to learn about the theater behind the stage, as well.  We are fortunate to have such a unique theater locally.

Sunday evening we had dinner again at Bill and Stephanie's.  This time I brought the big camera, but I'm afraid it may be time to quit taking photos of people eating.  Hahaha.  Kamryn has decided sometime over the last few months that my favorite pose is one with food going into the mouth:
I love this photo.  Thanks Mom and Dad for indulging me.
We were excited to be able to kidnap Leo for the dinner.  He's doing well enough that they're sending him home on Friday, but he was really disappointed he had to stay in the Rehab Center for Father's Day.   So we pulled him out of the Center to join us for dinner, which was a treat for everyone.  I think he enjoyed it, too.
Grandpa Brent with Luke - loved Luke's snuggles.
Okay, I told you I'd post a photo of these two together with their casts.   Ashlyn got hers off this week.  Eric still has a few weeks to go.  But for a minute we actually got the two of them together to show their cousins twinness:

Then the others wanted in on the photo session.    But Eric didn't.   Grandma - enough is enough!

This photo really looks a whole lot different than what was really going on.  Eric just didn't want to move in closer to his cousins, or stay in the photo mode any longer.   But it could make a great illustration about girls v guys, or something.  I'm open to caption ideas!  Leave them in the comment section below.

So enter the Tickle Monster.   And Eric got over his tears in an instant.   We just never really got the "ideal" photo of them all together (Luke was asleep anyway).

Ok, Eric and Ashlyn, you're done!  But these two monkeys were not!
It was a great weekend.  Love all our family!  Loved visiting with Sean and with Dan and with my father as well.   Happy Father's Day is just a great day (weekend) for family!

Wow you squeezed a lot of good stuff in to Father's Day weekend. And I somehow missed a post because another broken baby bone? Oh no!!! I have now scrolled down and caught up and while the casts do look cute I hate to think of the pain that must have come with those injuries, not just for little ones but for their mommas. Also, in the post that I missed before, I love the picture of Jack in all his gear looking out at the field. Very cool!

Fun! My next door neighbor plays "Mother" in Ragtime. Grandpa was glad to escape from stonehenge.
