Rewind 5: School Must be Almost Out

Not just school, but every other program grandkids can be involved in.  They're all winding down and that means a lot of year-end, or season-end kinds of activities.   I'm so grateful some live close enough for us to attend their special nights.

Kamryn's School Choir Program,  Monday, April 21:

To put this in context, this was the day after Easter, two days after Leo's funeral.  Edna joined us.  Kamryn's other grandparents Arlo and Sandy were still in town, too.  So she had a little cheering section there for her.  It's amazing to me what fun props and a little imagination can do to dress up a show on a budget.   So lots of pics and not many words, come with us as we rewind back to these recent shows put on by some of our grandchildren:

Brent hugging Karsyn
Not Kamryn's class. These kids were standing next to us in the aisle for the opening.   So I could actually get a picture of them without it being too dark and hard to see.

Ashlyn found something to occupy her little fingers during the show.
"Take a picture of my toes!" Karsyn begged.   So I did.   Don't ask me why I selected it to post here, however, except aren't they cute????

Kamryn in Action:

Here's Kamryn with her classmates.

Ashlyn wanted to perform, too.   Somehow she got left behind.

Edna and Karsyn
After the show, ICE CREAM! at Thanksgiving Point!

Which means hanging fun, it would seem!

Especially by monkey Kamryn! ...
... Who ought to become a photographer as well as a model,                                                    because this girl knows how to strike a pose!

Beautiful time of the year to be at Thanksgiving Point!

Maddy & Jack's School Choir Program, Thurs, May 8, 2014:

Maddy and Jack's elementary school does an Arts Week every year, and part of that included an evening of arts featuring their school choir and orchestra, as well as art projects done by each of the classes   We couldn't make it in time to see Maddy play her piano solo, but word on the street is that she aced "Supercalifragilistic".   Way to go, Maddy.

She and Jack have been going to early morning choir practice for several months.  This concert was a culmination of all that effort.  It was a fun show for those of us who spent our teen years in the music era they were highlighting.

Makinzee and Maddy before the show begins.
Jack waiting before the show began, too.
Being on the front row, one would think we'd have a perfect angle for photo taking.  Unfortunately, Maddy went hiding behind the girls in front and Jack was hiding behind one of the choristers.  But at least I got a couple of pictures and a couple of videos to share here.   (Maddy - second to the left).

Maddy had a special dance number:

And this number by the boys was as fun here as it was the first time we ever heard Peter Noone sing it:

After the choir concert, we got to go see some of Jack and Maddy's personal artwork.  Below you see Jack standing next to his Cassatt replica of himself (boy in purple plaid).

And here's Maddy below her very fun piece of art showing perspective.
It was so good to be able to be with these two for their night of talent!

Fantastic Evening!  Fantastic performances, Maddy and Jack!

Kamryn's Dance Recital, Saturday, May 17, 2014

Edna, Arlo, and Sandy as well as Brent and I were part of the cheering section;  along with Bill, Stephanie, Ashlyn and Karsyn

Some of the other dances:
Move over Degas!   This group danced to "Frozen"

Kamryn getting a just-before-performance hug from her Mom
This recital did something new for them.  It's a great idea - should pass it on to all in charge of dance recitals:  they reserved the front row for those who had children in each dance to move in, take their photos and then move out again so the next group of parents could get into the best spot for photos.  Stephanie got the movie and I got the dancer:

Great job Kamryn!

I had the setting wrong for this next photo and it came out almost black.  I tried to salvage what I could so at least you can see the great smiles:

I love seeing all the grandchildren grow and learn and develop their great talents!  They have so many opportunities in today's world to explore a diverse number of topics, and we are really enjoying being part of their cheering section as they do so!
