Bang, Bang!

Number One: From the time Heather was a newborn infant, she has had a dreadful fear of loud noises and everything that accompanies them.
Number Two: From the time we started target shooting, we have tried and tried and tried to get her to at least ride out with us. She has always refused. Until today. But even with Isaac along, she was still petrified to step away from the safety of the Explorer. With a little encouragement, a few hugs, and some big, big bravery on her part, however, she finally left the cocoon of the truck, and even eventually was willing to TOUCH Isaac's 22 rifle (which only made a very little, little pop and didn't appear to kick at all).
Isaac showed her how to line up the scope. Brent showed her how her ear protection cut off the sound of loud noises (sure he did - more like tried to scare her, right? Not smart with someone who's already on edge and ready to jump out of her skin)
OK, that was enough, Heather decided. Big strides for one day. She was there. She touched the gun, right? No, Isaac had other things in mind. Come on, Heather, you can do this.
Sure, I can. ??? No, I'm not so sure I can.
Well, maybe. As long as it means you'll get close to me.

Bang! It shot. It hit the target, even. It didn't kick!
It WAS FUN!!!!!!!!
Tonya and Brian were with us, too. In fact, Tonya was a wonderful sister to help Heather realize it was OK to be nervous, and that she could succeed in spite of her huge fear.
Heather even graduated to shooting the pistols.

Keep in mind what I said at the start of this blog about Heather's very real phobia she fought today. She fought it and SHE WON!!!! Way to go, babes! You CAN do it!
Oh, and by the way, Brian was having a great time shooting at the other target while Isaac, Tonya, and Brent were all focusing on helping Heather. It was actually a whole unit when we started out (LOL). (That last shot couldn't even be jerry rigged with tape.) Proof of a fun morning!
