Update on "The Competition"

Week One results: After a week of counting calories carefully, and doing a little exercise (not as much as I should have, however), and avoiding simple carbs, and drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day ... I actually did lose weight! Yay!

In fact, I lost the most of anyone at work. Much to my surprise!

Of course, this is just the FIRST week when motivation is high and effort is easy and my metabolism is still happy, and water weight probably constitutes most of the pounds.

I feel a little like BYU after its first two wins, but I am a lot apprehensive about the coming weeks. Should I be? Or should I just revel in the fact that I succeeded last week? And not worry about the "Florida State" weeks ahead of me.

Congratulations. I know you can do it. Just keep thinking of it as a life change instead of a diet. You are now a person that eats healthy, exercises, and drinks enough water instead of a person that doesn't. :)

WOO HOO! Look at you go! Congrats for sticking to your goals. Just enjoy the success and worry about Florida State on game day.

The 2nd week is the hardest to loose weight. Don't get discouraged, but plug along! You'll be so proud when you win!!!

Thank you for all your encouragement, all of you! So far so good this week. My pants were falling down today. That's a good sign, right?

That is an excellent sign! Congrats! I started reading the South Beach diet book on the plane. I'm starting this as soon as I get home. It really makes sense and doesn't seem too different from what I'm currently doing except for cutting out white bread and rice. I think I can do it! And, I HAVE to get back to walking!
