Summer Fades

As summer fullness fades softly into autumn gold...

I look around and find to my delight

One more day to treasure the warm glow,

The song of the sparrow,

and the

diamond sparkle of the watering row.

Oh, summer dreams are lazy days

The smell of fresh mown lawn and new bound hay

Timpanogos hiding from sol’s bright rays

And blossoms reaching for the sky

The Green is so Green

The Blue is so Blue

I cannot help but wonder why

I race and hurry and bury myself

inside

And forget that out the doors

Summer is quietly whispering

Goodbye.
