Progress!

It seems like it's been a long time since I've had any news to report on the house. It isn't that nothing's been happening, just that nothing VISIBLE has been happening - decisions made just can't be seen. So we got the cabinets designed and they'll soon be built (at least that's what I keep getting promised), we've decided what we want to do appliance-wise - because that had to be done before the cabinet designs were complete. And there's been a lot of work done on the floor - just nothing to really show off.

Last week we actually made some visible progress - we now have lights - everywhere!

.... In the hall (notice the smoke detector, too - one in the hall and one in each bedroom and one in the basement - just like the big boys have, all connected to each other)

... lights in the dining room area

... and Lights in the kitchen area (the holes from the old lights will be patched.) I won't get any credit for being creative with these, but at least they're out of the way and they work!

And here's our next project waiting for me to dive in. I get the itchy job while Brent gets the sweaty ones.

The plumber came yesterday and that is now ready and waiting as well.

So that's what's been happening with the house.

And now an UPDATE on the COMPANY COMPETITION for me: In the first four weeks I've lost 13 lb. and 5 inches. That's hardly a dent on my very huge body, but the really great thing is that I've done it without really feeling deprived. I've had desserts (very tiny portions) and I've enjoyed my favorite foods - even dinner at Olive Garden for my birthday. This is actually something I think I can really live with!

The best part is that my blood sugars have dropped to almost normal in the mornings and my blood pressure is getting under control. That's four weeks going from a health wreck to a functioning body again. And I am really really pleased about that. I just got home from the gym and I actually found myself ENJOYING the workout today! Wow! That's a change! For the better.

Remodeling looks so fun and so awful at the same time.

Good job on the 13 pounds. That's great! See you didn't even need to worry about Florida State...you smoked 'em! Keep us posted.

Mom,
I am so proud of you. It takes a lot of strenght and will power to change your lifestyle the way you have. The really great thing is that they say that 30 days makes a habit. You're at your 4 week mark so you are creating some great habits.

The lighting looks great. The kitchen is going to be wonderful when it's all done. You deserve it. :)
