What is it about a shift in the weather that keeps me awake at night? Especially when it has something to do with snow. So Wednesday morning, very early, found me in the living room, snuggled under my favorite throw, watching the sky light up and exposing trees flailing against the wind, filling the air with deep rumbling thunder. The cat settled contentedly into the soft pillow of my lap, purring, warm. The only thing wrong with that cozy scene was that I really should have been sound asleep, in bed.
I love living where the seasons change. I love having an excuse to let all the flowers and tomatoes and weeds go to sleep, for the lawn to quit growing, and the land to say, "It is enough." We just seemed to have a short summer this year, so I was surprised when I heard talk of a freeze. No! It's too early. I haven't picked enough tomatoes. They only just started ripening last week (actually it's been over a month). And then I look at the calendar.
October 1. Man! When did that happen?

I'm with you. Summer went by much too quickly. The only season that I don't like is heavy winter. January is miserable and I really hate driving in the snow :(
Tomatoes?? Oh yeah--those round red things. I actually had a few--I think the largest was probably the size of a golf ball. I also live where there are seasons--"winter" and "wind"!!
