Catch Up

Going to bite the bullet here and try to touch on the very busy week(s) we've had.
Lehi, at its core, is still a very small, rural town.  Don't let the sprawling miles filled with homes from Traverse Ridge to Utah Lake and west to the Jordan fool you, no siree.  We're still just a small town at heart.

So we prove it once a year with our Lehi Celebrations - Picnic in the Park with our own Lehi's Got Talent playoffs, a barbecue pork dinner in the park on another day, a horse parade (which we rarely go to, and didn't this year, either), our "famous" miniature parade (Primary Around-the-Block Parade Grown Up - a little), and the Lehi Parade (miniature parade rerun with additional big floats - two long hours it goes on and on and on....).

Kamryn and Karsyn at the annual barbecue in the park - they got hot dogs and chips, we got BBQ pork and coleslaw.  Wednesday, June 22, 2011
Bill had the privilege of being a flag bearer in the Honor Guard of the Lehi City Parade, Friday night, June 25, 2011.  He's the handsome one second from the left with the Utah State flag.   Don't these officers look sharp in their dress uniforms?

All that marching in the heat made for one very sweaty Bill.  Stephanie was quick to help him cool off with her ever ready supply of diaper wipes.  We were grateful he was able to make it back to us to watch most of the parade that night.

The Saturday morning parade had all the miniature floats in it plus the big floats, and more bands....

and louder noises
 And More Candy!
And more Princesses lining up for Snow White!

And Bill got to work a street corner - which meant he also got to sit this one out.
Which was good being as he had only about three hours sleep in the last 48.....

Of course, this is all around the RODEO coming to town.
The closest Brent and I got to the rodeo this year was volunteering in the parking lots trying to make it so there was room for one more car without blocking anyone - a fairly easy task with cars and trucks, but a nightmare in the contestant parking with their huge horse trailers and the need to leave room for their horses - far enough from the other horses that nobody's animals start a fight with another person's.  Never would have thought of that, but the people parking the trailers sure told us in a hurry!  (Was just grateful I wasn't the one trying to park the trailer.)

Wanted to include the pictures from the 4th here, too, but it's going to have to wait.  I'm supposed to be to work in a half hour and I have not showered yet.  Yikes!  They (the pictures - not the shower) are posted on Facebook.  I'll try to get to them a little sooner than three weeks from now.

Bill does look sharp in his uniform. Love how you have to have a serious expression when dressed up like that. Either that or he was concentrating!! We were party poopers and didn't join your festivities, looks fun and a lot of work for who ever is in charge of it!

All of this fun and you haven't even hit the 4th pictures yet? At first glance I thought this was the 4th. Looks like lots of good Summer fun going on in Lehi right now.

Such a fun week! Busy and a bit tiring for all...but loved every minute of it. Great traditions and family fun. Thanks for sharing it with us.
