Catching Up 6 - Magical

Final post about our vacation - I promise.
Disneyland was the destination for our honeymoon, so it seemed only appropriate that it be so once again for this 40th Celebration.   That was a given.  The part we had to decide was whether we would include all our posterity (all 19 3/4 of them) or just go back to the beginnings and do it just the two of us.  It was a debate we stewed over for a while, and though we decided in the end to do it just the two of us, we really ended up bringing everyone along in our hearts.  Once a couple has a child it can never be just the two of them again (which is, I think, a wonderful thing).

In Disneyland I found myself viewing everything through the eyes of my grandchildren - "Oh, Tabatha would love this!" or "Wouldn't Lexi and Karsyn have fun with that?"   Nick, Jake, and Jack were all there in our hearts when we had the sneak peek of Radiator Springs, and Maddy and Kamryn were definitely there when we saw all the beautiful little princesses in the park. There were even things we thought Eric would love. So, everyone, what do you think about a reunion in Disneyland next year?  Start saving your pennies!

But the other part of our days in the Park were the memories from our beginning, from our first trip.  All sweet, beautiful memories, and it was, I have to admit, fun to be a young adult again, racing to get a fast pass and plan out our next rides.   We had a romantic dinner and we held hands during Aladdin where we were sitting next to another couple who were celebrating their anniversary and happened to be from Utah, too (though that should be no surprise - I'm guessing if it weren't for Utah and Japan, Disneyland would go belly up!).  And we even had the luxury of going back to the hotel for naps in the middle of the crowded hot afternoons!

Here are a few images from our two days in Disneyland (not many because most of the time we left the good cameras in the hotel room, and Brent carried the little one in his pocket so by the time I got him to pull it out for me, it was too late to take the picture.)  But it's proof, at least that we were there.  And I've posted a few additional ones on Facebook if you're interested.  Click here for those.

Welcome to the most Magical Place on Earth (at least if you believe all Disney's hype, right?)

We enjoyed the "Magic" -

"The World of Color" was unbelievable...

The fireworks -  fantastic,
                                          as always ...

And Aladdin was pure magic start to finish!

But, the rides we remembered as well as some new ones we didn't were the magical tickets that brought us back to our younger years:

We had a great time over the entire trip and brought home a whole bag full of wonderful memories. Wonder what we're going to do at the end of our next 40 years?

A Disney trip would be so fun! I'm all for saving up my pennies! Might be years before we've saved enough however:)

How fun! It's always nice to do things with just the two of you, but I know what you mean about bringing everyone along in your heart. Isn't amazing that you will look at something, and one of the grandkids automatically pops into your mind? How did you keep from spending a TON getting stuff for each one? And did you keep looking behind you for a child? Like--"oh no! Where is ___?" We find ourselves doing that when it's just the two of us. Those darn kids are so interwoven in our lives that it's hard to separate US from THEM--and don't think we ever want to! Glad you had a great time on your trip.

Happy 40th! How fun that you went back to your honeymoon spot, and how cute that you honeymooned at Disneyland! I do hope that for your 80th anniversary you return and hop right back on Tower of Terror.
