I remember the day Mom brought home a peony start from Grandma Heaps' garden (or was it Grandma Hansen's?). Whatever, I knew the flower meant a lot to Mom because that was the one plant she felt bad about leaving when we moved to Lewiston. Every year, early summer brought the fragrant beauty of the bush as it grew larger and larger.

That was why I couldn't resist planting one for me several years ago. And it, too, has grown and grown. And this year it is covered with these big, beautiful, fragrant blossoms. Wish they'd last all summer! Every time I smell them, they bring back memories of 1299 Spruce Ave., Twin Fall, Idaho.
(Thanks, Lisa, for the hint on how to photo these.)

Reminds me of the time you planted tulips out front. They had just come up, were marching along in a line, and were so pretty. But suddenly, they were headless--just stems and leaves. Sarah, Bill and Dan were just old enough to play outside alone (much safer times) and no one had any idea what had happened! Kinda like when "someone" peeled all the pinstriping off Grandpa L's van! Better watch those grandkids, or your peonies will be headless! Ann
I'd give anything, even headless peonies, to have the grandkids around to pop them off! I had forgotten about the tulip episode. Funny how that just doesn't matter in the long scheme of things. They grow back. Kids don't.
Oh I love this little memory! I totally brings out a side of Grandma that I rarely get to see. She so cute and sentimental. :) The flowers are gorgeous! I love the pictures of them!
