The roofer(his name is Rob Highland) found the plywood to be in worse shape than even Brent had suspected, so our original plans of replacing everything down to the rafters is now back into place. Rob and his son Matt worked there all day today and got the west side stripped down and reconstructed and ready for the shingles (which will be black). Now we're just praying those dreadful storms that slaughtered everyone north of us will just stay north for a few days!

Taking Down a House
Well, the wheel chuck got moved, and the whole project is back on forward motion. In fact, this week we're getting a double whammy because the roofing people have shown up as well. Brent felt a little passion for destruction last Friday and took the day off to pull down more walls, and cupboards came out on Saturday and if I could just remember who the guy is we had do our bathroom tile, we'd be moving forward there, too. (Oops - another wheel chuck! Gonna have to get that one out right away!)

Yay! Great job, Brent! We've still got to take down the wallboard on the outside wall. I just have a strange desire to hold onto that sink until the very last minute. I'm not looking forward to washing dishes in the bathroom.
But at least we're getting closer to the end of the tear down, and I'm looking way forward to the time we can start rebuilding again.
