Ok, family, here's another opportunity to gather some family history. Feel free to copy these into your family history folders. My guess is this (detail above, and full picture below) was taken some time around my birthday, maybe when I turned four. Or it could be David's birthday or Mom's birthday. All three of us were born in October, and judging from the foliage on the trees and the growth on the rose bushes and the coats on us all, this was probably in the middle of the autumn months and if it were in color I think we'd see a lot of yellow leaves littering the ground. (There's a lot to be said about putting dates on the back of pictures!)

Ok, here's the really strange thing. If you asked me to describe our front porch today, I would tell you that there were two rose trellises on both sides of the porch and in the summer the red climbing roses on the trellises would fill our home with the scent of rose all the while they bloomed. I know we picked their blossoms and used them in my basket when I was a flower girl at my Aunt Veon and Uncle Verl's wedding reception, where my Grandma Hansen told me to just scatter the blossoms around the floor (I'm sure she told me to, but maybe that was just my excuse.)
Now, looking closely at these pictures, I see no trellis. Mom will have to clarify my memory on this point. I'm guessing from the lack of foliage here, this must be early spring - maybe Easter? Or Susie's birthday in April?
Don't you love my hairdo? I remember always going to bed on Saturday night with tight pin curls held against my head with bobby pins. And I do not remember ever owning my own felt skirt but here I am in one, it appears. I don't think it had a poodle on it.
We lived in a couple of other homes before we moved to this one - there was the one on Falls Avenue next to my grandparent's basement house - that was the home I was brought into when I was born, and there was an apartment just off Blue Lakes Blvd. not too far from this home - that was the home where I ate ants as a baby and where, if you ever get a chance to see home movies from my growing up years, Dad filmed us making snowmen, and Mom watching from the window with David. But this is the home I remember in Twin Falls. And because I was a child, I do remember a lot of "Spanky and Our Gang" kinds of adventures here. We lived here until the summer following my fifth grade, when we moved to Lewiston, Idaho.

I have a picture that looks almost identical to the one of you on the steps... I'll have to post. I've been so inspired by your 30 days of posts... I'm going to start it when I get my trip photos caught up
I see Heather in the photo of you with curly hair. Love your memories of your house, even the smells.
When I saw these, my first thought was that you've really been holding out on these photos, but then I read that these are all recent acquisitions. I can't wait to see more of them.
Next, I thought 'how did Heather get in this picture.' Now I see I'm not the only one who thought this. Thanks for sharing!
