Day 19 - Bug

30 Day Challenge, Day 19
Nicknames you have and why you have them

To all my family, I am still known as "Bug."
It's a simple nickname,  given me when I was crawling.  I guess I didn't like to fight my skirt so  I crawled using my hands and my feet, instead of my knees.  The result, according to my Mom, was my diapered bottom pushing up into the air, just like a stink bug.
So I was given the sweet engendering term "Bug."

At least that's what I'm told.  All I know is if you call me Bug, I'll answer.
But please don't.

My name is Julie.
Just ask Kamryn.
I was helping Stephanie yesterday and dropped her off to her play group.  Another mother was taking her daughter to the door.  Kamryn pointed to me and told the woman, "That's my grandma!"
Then she added, "But her real name is Julie."

Julie.  Not Julia (my Mom was insistent I was NOT a Julia).  Not Jules (what my boss calls me - he's always in a hurry and shortens everything, like Julie isn't short enough already).   It's Julie.

But my favorite "Nickname" has to be "Grandma."  Or "gma ma" as Karsyn says (the g is silent).

Awe but don't you sometimes wish you had Julia Roberts lips? I do, only cuz I am missing 1/2 of my top lip.

I actually really like the name Julia. For some reason it just wasn't Mom's favorite. So they named me Julie. Of course, that was before the day of Julia Roberts, or even Julia Warnick, a dear friend of mine.

Also, when I was young thin lips (or almost no lips) was the "in" thing. No color, white disappearing lips. Today it's just the opposite. Funny how even the physical make-up of a person can go in and out of style. Like we have control over it?

Impressed that Kamryn actually got Julie out instead of "Clipsy Grandma"! and Karsyn....she calls for "gma ma" all day long! I love how much they adore their grandmas!

I just tried to leave a comment and it told me service not available? Let's try again...

I am also just Julie. I have been called Julia and Julianne a lot and even had people tell me those names were prettier, but they are not my name and I am just Julie. I don't so much prefer Jules either but I am so used to it. Even strangers have called me Jules. I think it is just automatic. I am curious to know if you have a middle name?

Stephanie, I forgot to put "Clipsy Grandma" in there, I was giggling so hard on the "Her name's Julie" part. But I love that she calls me that, too.

And, yes, Julie, my middle name is Marie. Which is my Mom's middle name and my Grandma Heaps' first name, and Tonya's middle name. Would have been Heather's, too. If we had given her a middle name. But she thinks she's the deprived child (and we thought we were doing her a favor.)

Bug. Thats what we call Taylor. She went from Taterbug to just Bug. Thats funny. Well I call her Missy Moo alot too.

I won't call you Bug, or Julia, or Jules. You are Julie and your name fits you great, as I am sure gma ma does too!
