Your Favorite Song
Where could I begin - I just love music, pure and simple. (Didn't we already have kind of a similar assignment already?)
One of my most favorite composers, however, is Antonin Dvorak, and my favorite symphony he wrote is the New World Symphony. The second movement includes a melody used in the spiritual "Going Home." I love the depth of feeling this music evokes.
Dvorak, Symphony 9, Movement 2: Largo
Other songs at the top of my list include:
"Bring Him Home" - Les Miserables
"I Still Believe" - Miss Saigon
"Nutcracker" - Tchaikovsky
"For Good" - Wicked
"Cherish" - the Association
"My Fatherland" - Smetana
The Hymns: "I Believe in Christ", "Each Life that Touches Ours For Good", and "How Great Thou Art"
Anything Jon Schmidt
Just about all Christmas music, but at the top of the list are "Still, Still, Still", "O Holy Night", and "Ave Maria"
And that, dear people, is the final post of the 30-Day Challenge. I'd love to see your take on the same topics. If you'd like a copy of the list, let me know and I'll get it to you.
But now, I think I shall leave the blog alone for a while. A little while at least. I have a book to write, you see.

Aunt Julie,
What a beautiful music list! It's fun to realize that we share very similar tastes in music as well as many other things. Now if only I left as many wonderful comments on your blog as you do on ours. It's so true that they definitely brighten one's day.
I know this 30-day blogging spree has been a challenge, but we've really enjoyed following it. Through your entries, I feel like I've gotten to know you better, as well as generations before and after. The pictures you've posted are precious for family history--thanks so much. And best of luck with your book!
I'm sad to admit that I am not well versed when it comes to music. I have a hard time hearing the lyrics so I tend to go by how the music it self touches me. Your list is inspiring. I love Les Miserables and Wicked, so I have to assume the rest are good as well! :) Congrats on completing your thirty day challenge!! :)I'm interested in you book and wish you luck!!! :)
Love You!
Beautiful music. And thank you for sharing your love of music with me.
A book? Is that on the Bucket List. You are a wonderful writer, can't wait to be inspired. Thanks for doing the challenge with me, although I started before you and you finished before me. Guess I skipped a couple days here and there. PS I love Les Mis 2 and can't wait to take my girls to the Nutcracker.
Thanks to all of you. Yeah, Makinzee, the book is #51 on the list. I'm not so ambitious to think I'll get it all done, so I said just 60 pages, but really I would like to get it all done. So far I'm into the second chapter of about 60....ummm, don't hold your breath. I would love to go to the Nutcracker with you and the girls, too!
I am so curious now...what kind of book are you writing? Fiction? Good for you. That is something I would love to do and probably never will because I can not figure out what to write about. I will run right out and buy your book when it is finished. I love to read your words.
Also, I hope you don't abandon the blog altogether. I would miss you!
Oh, heavens, I won't ever abandon the blog, Julie. I just cannot write every single day. That was just too time consuming.
Over ten years ago I wrote a musical with a friend. It's always been my ambition to turn it into a novel. So that's what I'm working on. It's a long slow process and I have serious doubts it will ever be printed. Maybe when I get a few chapters ahead, I'll start a different blog just for the book and let everyone help me with fixing all the things that don't work. But right now I'm just trying to get past the first chapter. It seems like forever I've said I'm going to write it. Now I've got to quit talking and do it! Thanks for your vote of confidence!
Aunt Julie, this is such a neat challenge! I would like to do one too, could you email me that list? I really enjoy your blog. Love you!
