Happy 29th My Beautiful Daughter!

("Snuggle Time" - Drawing I did when Tonya was about a year old)
My mother used to tell me how she cried when I was born because she finally had a daughter.  It may be impossible to totally understand the feelings of another person, but I know her joy could not have been any greater than the joy I experienced at your birth.  This was before the age of ultrasounds determining gender long before the birth day.  But I knew I had a daughter still waiting to come to our home.  Brent knew it.  And such a thrill 29 years ago when you were placed in your Daddy's arms the minute you were born, our beautiful first daughter!

I love how you always loved to play with your dolls.
You've always been our little doll and now you have a real live doll of your own.

We are so proud of you, of all you have accomplished and continue to do,
of the precious daughter, sister, wife, aunt, and mother you are.

God granted us six miracles - six beautiful little babies who have grown into wonderful adults.
Thank you so much for being one of them.
Happy Birthday, Tonya!

While looking for some pictures to post that I haven't posted before,
I ran across these from our trip to California at the end of July in 1984.
I thought everyone might enjoy seeing these blasts from the past:
Tonya and Grandpa Loveridge, Sea World
Tonya and Shamu at Sea World
Dan, Sean, Bill, Mike, Tonya - Camp Snoopy Store, Knotts Berry Farm
Sean and Tonya at Knott's Berry Farm
Me and Tonya with one of those them Bears at the Review - Disneyland, July 25, 1984

Tonya's brothers, same bear - Dan, Bill, Mike, and Sean.  Look how short those shorts were!  And, Bill, you definitely got lost in the furry armpits of that guy!
I scanned a ton of pictures, but am amazed at how poorly most of them are, and look how the color is starting to fade.  Hooray for digital!  I will, one day when I have more time than sense, go through them and adjust colors and get rid of the smudges of dirt, etc.   But I thought I'd post the ones above just to wet your appetite.  Maybe I'll share more on Sean's birthday, because these were all taken around his birthday in '84.

Anyway, Happy Birthday, Tonya, again.  Hope it's a fun one in spite of the snow!  (It was NOT  snowy the day you were born, by the way.)

Happy Birthday to Tonya!

Also, I had no idea drawing was one of your many talents. I love that picture, so sweet.

Also, I like the picture of you and Tonya with the bear. Cute!

The 2nd picture of Tonya I can see Lexi in. Or maybe they just are about the same age. I love having 2 little girls and now how the momma and poppa felt when they finally got one. Happy 29! And I esp like those striped socks...can't wait for those to come back in style.

Aw that's so cute! I can't believe she's already 29... time and life is flying by. Happy Birthday Tonya!

Was talking to Tonya and she told me the saddest story about the second picture. She remembers we threw that doll away (roller skating doll) - guess it was broken - but next time we made a trip to the dump, she started looking through the trash thinking she could find it. That breaks my heart!

And I'm not positive about the location of those pictures. I noticed that everyone's in the same clothes for the pictures I said were Knott's Berry Farm and the ones with the bear at Disneyland. We were staying next to Knott's Berry, so it's possible we went to both places on the same day.

Once again, you younger generation that may think as I did once, that I would always remember - you won't always remember. Or that I would have more time another day. You'll never have more time, either. Identify, identify, identify. At least with digital we have date marks and number sequences to help us today. But still.... that never helps with names or locations.
